Epitalon, also written Epithalon or Epithalone, is a synthetic tetrapeptide: four amino acid residues with the sequence AEDG (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly). It is one of the smallest materials we plan to list, with the molecular formula C14H22N4O9 and a molar mass of approximately 390.4 g/mol for the free peptide; its CAS number is 307297-39-8. The material is made by chemical synthesis.
The planned listing is 10 mg fill weight as lyophilised powder in a crimp-sealed glass vial. Because the molecule is so small, the difference between fill weight and net peptide content, which depends on counter-ions and residual water, is proportionally larger than for a long peptide; the distinction is explained in peptide purity versus net peptide content.
Epitalon is not yet on sale. It is listed so that laboratories in the United Kingdom can see what is planned and register interest; when it is in UK stock we send one email to say so, with the price, and nothing else. When it goes on sale it will be supplied on the same terms as every other material here: the price shown will be the total payable with UK delivery included, dispatched by Royal Mail Tracked 24 in unbranded packaging, with an order placed before 14:00 on a working day leaving that day where stock allows. Epitalon will be supplied lyophilised, for storage at −20 °C protected from light. The sequence contains an aspartate followed by a glycine (Asp3-Gly4), the motif most prone to succinimide formation and isoaspartate rearrangement in solution, and a glutamate; there are no oxidisable side chains. That chemistry needs water, so it is dormant in a dry cake and starts only on reconstitution, which is why the crimp seal and a cold, dark freezer are the whole of the storage advice; see lyophilised peptide storage and stability.

Because the pathways that alter it, chiefly rearrangement at the Asp-Gly bond, need water, and a lyophilised cake stored cold and sealed keeps water out. The size of the molecule does not change that.
