Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide — five residues, ending in a C-terminal amide rather than a free carboxylic acid. Its established sequence is Aib-His-D-2-Nal-D-Phe-Lys-NH2. Three of the five residues are non-proteinogenic — α-aminoisobutyric acid (Aib), D-2-naphthylalanine and D-phenylalanine — so the molecule is a designed synthetic peptide rather than a fragment of any native protein. Ipamorelin is the accepted non-proprietary name; the development code NNC 26-0161 appears as a synonym in the older literature.
