About this material

Synthetic heptapeptide, sequence MEHFPGP. Planned as a 5 mg listing to the same standard as the rest of the catalogue: lyophilised powder in a crimp-sealed glass vial, held in UK stock, dispatched tracked on working days with UK delivery included in the price.

What Semax is

Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide: seven amino acid residues with the sequence MEHFPGP (Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro). The first four residues correspond to a fragment of the adrenocorticotropic hormone sequence, ACTH(4–7), and the C-terminal Pro-Gly-Pro is a synthetic addition; the material is wholly synthetic. Its identifiers are CAS 80714-61-0, molecular formula C37H51N9O10S and a molar mass of approximately 813.9 g/mol for the free peptide.

It is planned as a 5 mg lyophilised fill in a crimp-sealed glass vial. A short peptide of this size is characterised by exactly the same figures as a long one: sequence, formula, mass and fill weight, with net peptide content a separate matter explained in peptide purity versus net peptide content. Semax and Selank are often listed side by side because both are heptapeptides ending in Pro-Gly-Pro; they differ entirely in their first four residues.

Availability

Semax is not yet on sale. It is listed so that laboratories in the United Kingdom can see what is planned and register interest; when it is in UK stock we send one email to say so, with the price, and nothing else. When it goes on sale it will be supplied on the same terms as every other material here: the price shown will be the total payable with UK delivery included, dispatched by Royal Mail Tracked 24 in unbranded packaging, with an order placed before 14:00 on a working day leaving that day where stock allows. Dispatch detail is on the shipping page. We supply research organisations, educational and commercial laboratories, and individuals purchasing for legitimate research.

Format, handling and storage

Semax will be supplied lyophilised, for storage at −20 °C protected from light. The N-terminal methionine is the one readily oxidised side chain in the sequence; there is no cysteine, tryptophan, asparagine or glutamine, so oxidation of Met1 is the pathway that matters once the powder meets air or moisture, and it is dormant while the cake is dry. The general reasoning is in lyophilised peptide storage and stability.

Frequently asked questions

Is Semax for human use?

No. NorthScientific lists Semax for laboratory research only; it is not for human or veterinary consumption in any form. We give no dosing or protocol guidance, and nothing on this page should be read as such.

When will Semax be available?

We list it now so that laboratories can register interest, and we email once, when it is in UK stock and on sale. No date is promised: it goes on sale when supply meets the same standard as the rest of the catalogue, and the price is published then.

How do Semax and Selank differ?

Both are seven-residue synthetic peptides that end in Pro-Gly-Pro. Semax is Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro, with a methionine at the N-terminus; Selank is Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro. They have different formulae (C37H51N9O10S against C33H57N11O9) and masses, and are listed as separate materials.

What is the ACTH(4–7) reference in the description?

It identifies the origin of the first four residues, Met-Glu-His-Phe, which match positions 4 to 7 of the adrenocorticotropic hormone sequence. It is a statement about sequence identity only; the material is synthetic and is not that hormone.

Does 5 mg mean 5 mg of Semax peptide?

Not necessarily. The planned 5 mg is the fill weight of lyophilised powder in the vial; the peptide share of that mass depends on salt form and residual moisture. We do not publish an analysis for this material, so read the figure as fill weight.
